Law enforcement train for new victims' rights laws passed in Oklahoma
March 5th, 2020
This will cover updates on victims' rights covered under Marsy's Law.
Voters passed Marsy's law two years ago.
Marsy’s Law, passed by Oklahoma voters in November 2018, includes a new set of stronger Constitutional rights for victims of crime, granting them more information and input during the criminal justice process. The law clarifies a victim’s right to be notified of the release or escape of an accused perpetrator.
Thursday's training session also covers privacy law and victims' compensation.
Participants will include law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, court clerks, mental health professionals, and relevant tribal employees, to name a few.
